Music career

Edward Guglielmino is a musician, an academic and a blogger; he originally started pursuing music in high-school in 2000.[1][2][3] He writes quirky guitar pop.[4] One of his gigs listed as a highlight in April in the book Australia Year in Music 2010.[5][6] He has received National airplay.[7] Recently Guglielmino had undertaken a research Masters of Arts, he is a sessional academic at The UQ School of Business, QUT Creative Industries, and at the private college JMC.[8]

Guglielmino has toured through Australia, Europe, The UK, and North America both with his band 'The Show' and solo. He also composed the soundtrack to three plays: 'Speak Truth To Power' (2004), 'The Ruling Class' (2004) and 'Modlovex' (2005) as well as two short films: 'Giraffe' (2003) and 'Love Coincidence' (2004). Much his earlier music was self released though the Internet and CDR, this music alongside demos, b-sides, and live recordings of Lost of Love is available on his sound cloud for free download. In 2009 Guglielmino signed to Management Label Mucho Bravado since then he has released three records and four singles commercially, most significantly his critically acclaimed album Late At Night (2009) which is available though MGM Distribution.[9][10][11] [12]He returned to his DIY roots when in 2010 he released a online only live album titled 'Live At Cori's', the live concert was also filmed an many of the videos are on Vimeo and YouTube.[13]

Guglielmino has participated in community music events such as The Songs Of Applewood(2009) project and the Independent Music Project (2011).[3][14]

In late 2011 Guglielmino released a single 'in the morning' (2011) which received 4 and 5 star reviews by Triple J music programmers and has received air play on Triple J.[15]

Guglielmino played in infamous Brisbane band Lost Of Love which he co-fronted and -co-found with James O'Brien of The Boat People. The band were thrown off stage in the Brunswick Street Mall in Fortitude Valley for causing a public disturbance in early 2007...[16] [17]

In 2010 Guglielmino also played the guitar in The Thin Kids a band fronted by British music journalist Everett True.[18]

He produced 'Cometowherethecarpetstops' debut album Luke Forans debut EP and 'Cindy Tunes' debut Album. He recently finished co-production with Brisbane Band 'Tape Off' and Launceston outfit 'Get The Bunny.

Guglielmino is working on his 3rd record with producer Jamie Travaskis due for release early 2012.

The Show

Originally called "the 90's" Edward Guglielmino hired the help of his friends Nicoletta Panebianco, Ben Preece, and Matthew Redlich to perform with him in 2009. Preece left the band, but continues to manage the outfit, his replacement Samuel Schlencker took over soon after on drums. In 2010 Matthew Redlich left 'the show' due to 'irreconcilable differences' to pursue a solo project Surface Paradise. Recently Luke Foran and Nicoletta Panebianco decided on an extended break, Luke to tour with Chris Pickering and Nicoletta to pursue her acting career. [19]

Rowley Cowper joined the band in 2011 to play bass and keys; recently Kirsty Tickle from Little Scout has joined the line-up.[20]

Other stage friends include Jessie Warren, Timothy Caroll, James Obrien, Dan Rooke and Robin Waters.

Lost of Love

Aside from his career as a solo musician, Guglielmino is known for his work in Brisbane band Lost Of Love which he co-fronted and co-founded with James O'Brien of The Boat People and solo musician Jackie Marshall. The band was thrown off stage in the Brunswick Street Mall in Fortitude Valley for causing a public disturbance in early 2007.[16][21]

The Thin Kids

In the late part of 2009, Guglielmino started yet another project with British journalist Everett True (responsible for unearthing such artists and bands as Nirvana, and Daniel Johnston) labeled The Thin Kids. Also starring Maggie Collins and Scottie Regan The Thin Kids. The band received attention from Mess and Noise, NME and various other music journalism magazines and street press.[22][23][24]

It was announced that The Thin Kids would tour with Kate Nash.[25]

Blogging

Guglielmino writes a blog; littered with grammatical errors and misspellings, some of his work as been posted on online music sites such as MTV Iggy,[26] Who The Hell, Mess and Noise Music Feeds and Trend Setter.[27][28][29][30]

GE vs EG

In 2009 Guglielmino once again gained the attention of tabloid media. General Electric asked Guglielmino to change his logo, which was a parody of the General Electric's logo. Guglielmino complied, only to reveal a Lucky Goldstar parody logo. The story featured in City News,[31] on ABC radio 612 breakfast show, and also in the weekend edition of the Courier mail.[32] [33]
